From a newspaper down south:
The United States is opposed to Syria attending Washington's regional peace summit in November, Israeli academics Monday told Haaretz, based on their conversation with a senior U.S. official. The academics say the official described Syria as "a vicious, brutal regime allied to Iran strategically," which subscribes to "the most barbaric anti-Semitic views."
The sourcing on this story is sketchy. Neither the “academics” nor the “senior U.S. official” are named. And let’s hope that the story turns out to be nada. Because, you know, a summit that excludes countries from the other side isn’t much of a summit at all. Of course, I'm probably just being naive: Talking with your enemies is never useful.
Its the complete and utter adandonment on intelligent foreign policy.
