Last week's Supreme Court decision doesn't give detainees full Geneva rights--the right to play sports, smoke ' n such--that you often see cited in "conservative" circles. What the decision does do is give all detainees protection under just one provision of the Genevas:
It is a minimal baseline standard for any person captured during wartime, a baseline that precludes “[o]utrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment,” and also criminal trials outside of a “regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognized as indispensable by civilized peoples.” This is “Common Article 3.”
