On balance, I'd bet the Zarqawi strike basically did happen happen as the U.S. said--they bombed the place, he was mortally wounded, and soon died. But this gets you thinking, from the LAT:
An Iraqi police lieutenant who said he was among the first people at the scene told The Times on Saturday that after Iraqi police had carried Zarqawi to the ambulance on the stretcher, U.S. troops took him off the stretcher and placed him on the ground. One of the Americans tried to question Zarqawi and repeatedly stepped on his chest, causing blood to flow from his mouth and nose, said the lieutenant, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
A man identified only as Mohammed, who said he lived near the Zarqawi hide-out, told Associated Press Television News that he had witnessed Americans beating Zarqawi. "They stomped on his stomach and his chest until he died and blood came out of his nose," he said.
A U.S. military spokesman said by e-mail Saturday that there was no evidence to support allegations that coalition forces had beaten the insurgent leader.
So two purported witnesses, interviewed independently, both say GIs stomped on his chest, eh? I little "smacky face" would be about par for the course.
What’s new? we all know the criminal intend of the American heroes, abuse, kill, bomb the innocent and whatnot but the have the gut to claim “all the protect” the corrupt USA government!

The US said that Zarqawi was in Afghanistan, that he has lost a leg, then ran into Iraq, then became the link between alqaeda and S Hussein, that he was the boss of alqaeda in Iraq, that there were WMD in Iraq, that they did nothing wrong in Aby Graib...
They say what they want, in purpose, and you're free to follow or not...
I guess that no other entity that would have lied since so many times, about so many topics, could be believed any more, except the US "officials"!
We're lead to believe that alqaeda is some kind of organization usually depicted in some James Bond movie, with the bad guys ready to destroy the entire planet, but thanks to some Van Damme, Bruce Willis or Schwartzie, everything gonna be allright...
Why not, uh?
Reality means nothing in the fantasy world of the USA today...

Yes, we are at war, and unless we get some command in control of our troops we are going to loose this war. Massacres are no way of "winning hearts and minds", and killing a captured Zarqawi has now cost us any valuable information he would have been good for. Our Army has lost its control and that's an indictment of the Generals, Majors, as well as Sgt. Majors on down who have failed to keep our troops fighting like American solders instead of Nazis. I guess that's what happens when your war is really a war crime.
