What do you if you're a news organization and the White House makes a quiet but quite strong pushback on a story you published? Well, if you're Knight Ridder you publish another story about that:
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration is mounting an aggressive effort to counter a Knight Ridder story that described Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito as a committed judicial conservative.
The administration's response - delivered separately Tuesday by the White House and the Justice Department - reflects its determination to defend Alito and its sensitivity to the "conservative" label for him.
For the record, I don't see anything wrong with the White House objecting to a story. But I also don't see anything wrong with KR flagging the complaints (particularly if it's more than a letter or two and if the White House is trying to mislead; the latter seems to be the case here.)
Thank-you Knight Ridder. I know that it becomming increasingly hard for you to report the truth. We are behind you.

I finally got all my photos pretty much imported into iPhoto in addition to all the music I added to iTunes. To determine whether an egg is fresh, immerse it in a pan of cool, salted water. If it sinks, it is fresh – if it rises to the surface, throw it away.
