From the WSJ's Washington Wire:
New U.S. embassy in Baghdad is 16% complete, a Senate report says. The 104-acre complex will include 21 buildings, swimming pool, food court and power station. The report concludes the complex is within its $592 million budget and ahead of schedule for June 2007 completion.
I believe this thing is going to plopped down in central Baghdad. Don't know that there's another option, but if one of the things that's gotten us into trouble is our big-footing ways, well, it doesn't look like they're stopping.
P.S. talk about "bases" all you want; that's part of what this is--right in the middle of Baghdad.
it's just gonna be a huge f***ing target for rpg's, mortar rounds, missiles and whatever else the Iraqis and any al-Qaeda may want to hurl into the air. can you believe that the usa taxpayers are paying for this b*tch ? jeebus, how bad does cheney want that Iraqi Oil ??
